I wish I would of taken advantage of my single days and done something like that! I am so excited to see all of her pictures and her about her many adventures in Taiwan! Love you Jess!

What I need for next Christmas

I still have not found the perfect tree toper. I will be on the hunt during all of the after Christmas sales to find one like this one!

The Christmas Pickle
“A very old Christmas eve tradition in Germany was to hide a pickle [ornament] deep in the branches of the family Christmas Tree. The parents hung the pickle last after all the other ornaments were in place. In the morning they knew the most observant child would receive an extra gift from St. Nicholas. The first adult who finds the pickle traditionally gets good luck for the whole year.”

We practice this tradition in the Folsom family, and I really want to carry it on in mine.

Winter Wonderland

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Medford surprised us with snow on Christmas!
I can't remember the last time I had a white Christmas. Snow just makes everything so much more Christmasie.

The drive back to Portland was eventful. We wanted to leave early in the morning the day after Christmas, but the snow did not allow that. My parents live on a pretty steep hill and after we finally got out of the drive way the road was so ice we had to turn back and wait it out. At around noon we made a second attempt at leaving. I am glad we waited, come to find out the passes that we went over were closed and were just opened when got there.

Sometimes Christmas is dangerious!

My Dad cut himself while trying to open a hard plastic casing a gift was in. the scissors he had on his leatherman sliced right through his finger and sprayed blood on him and my Mom who was sitting next to him.
Going down, Dad is not a big fan of blood! So when he saw a considerable amount coming from his finger he knew he better lay down before he fell down.
After losing feeling in his finger and examining the deep cut we though it was best to make a trip to the ER.
The consensus's was, he may or may not regain feeling in his finger, but he was fine. He got a tetanus shot, had the wound cleaned and was sent home with some antibiotics!
I love that the accident description says opening present on 12/25/2007. This was definitely a Christmas to remember. The moral of the story is, don't get to excited and open your gifts to fast, because someone might end up in the ER.

Merry Christmas
